Mannitol Salt acc.to Chapman LAB-AGAR™ (acc.to USP)

500 gm, Chapman’s medium for isolation and differentiation of staphylococci based on their ability to form a natural dye. It is used for the differentiation of pathogenic strains on the basis of acid fermentation of mannitol. The differentiation indicator is the phenol red present in the medium, which turns yellow in an acidic environment. The selective factor is the high sodium chloride content, which inhibits the growth of virtually all microorganisms except Staphylococcus spp.
